Cassidy, a Kansas native, always wanted to write. Her love for writing began with her second-grade journaling prompts that blossomed into creating her own stories at home. Now, she’s sharing her passion with the world.

In 2014,
Cassidy won the Chelsea Gerbitz Memorial Essay Scholarship and the Senseney Music Essay Scholarship which totaled in over $1,500 for her college tuition. However, Cassidy didn't graduate from college. In fact, she dropped out to pursue writing as a profession.

Since 2021, Cassidy has paved her path as a freelance writer, publishing dozens of articles for online businesses around the subject of pets, plants, and the environment. Her most notable pieces are found on Catster, Dogster, and PetKeen.

In 2023, she released her first children’s book “A Home for KAKEman,” the story of the beloved Kansas Christmas puppet KAKEman from KAKE, ABC’s Santa’s workshop which ran from the late 1950s to the late 80s. The book sold over 600 copies and raised over $4,500 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Most recently, Cassidy has helped write and produce films for KAKE, ABC. The film Dawn of Doppler won first place in the KAB Awards for Digital Storytelling, contributed to the win for the regional Edward R. Murrow Award, and was recently nominated for the Heartland Emmys. Cassidy was also nominated for a regional Emmy in the Writing: Content category.

Additionally, Cassidy was the associate producer for the film Tragedy in Apt. 306 which investigated the death of a young women who was never rescued from an apartment fire.

Outside of KAKE, Cassidy publishes essays on Medium and Substack. When she isn’t writing, she's playing her flute. She also has a husband who is just as silly. The only thing Cassidy loves more than him is her faith.

When asked why she writes, Cassidy always says "I write to make sense of the world."

"One day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again."
